Antoine Bourdelle was a French expressionist sculptor and a talented student of Auguste Rodin (At the age of 24 he won a scholarship to the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris). Hercules the Archer is one of its most famous sculptures - Achieved in 1909. It is a magnificent modern rendition of the labor of Hercules in which he killed the Symphronian Birds with his bow. You will find the statue on the first floor of the Orsay Museum on the right side when you enter. If you like Bourdelle's work do not miss a visit to his dedicated museum (see details below)
